Implementation of Solar Power Photovoltaic project in remote earth quake affected areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Dr. M Suhail Qureshi, PMP is the first medical doctor in Pakistan to achieve PMP. He is presently working in Siemens Pakistan as Manager, Projects in Healthcare Sector. He has implemented a number of Healthcare Projects in Pakistan. His article on Project Management in Healthcare Sector was published in the PMI Asia Pacific e-link in May 2012.
After the earthquake in Azad Kashmir, Siemens Pakistan donated 200 standalone solar photovoltaic systems for installation in remote villages in the affected areas of Azad Kashmir. Dr. Suhail was appointed as the Project Manager for the Project and managed the project from its inception to its successful completion. Due to its outstanding success, the Project was declared the best CSR project and Dr. Suhail was awarded a Gold Medal by the Siemens. This project in remote areas, where approach and communication were extremely difficult, presented a number of challenges in managing logistics, team management and a significant/major unforeseen event. Dr. Sohail will share his experiences of managing the project and how he was able to overcome the challenges from a Project Managers point of view.
