Risk Governance

Risk is critical to successful project management and needs to be envisioned from the policy-makers of the organization and cultured from within the organization at its grass-root level. A knowledge manager with sound industrial background will talk about the 'Risk Governance' as futuristic trend of the corporate world.

Muhammad Salman Bilal graduated in Electrical Engineering in the year 2000 and joined a leading petrochemical company, Engro Chemicals, and learnt practical aspects of engineering during project executions and routine maintenance. Later-on, joined world’s best Oil & Gas exploratory company, Schlumberger, as field engineer for testing Oil & Gas wells for different multinational clients including OGDCL, OMV, BP, PETRONAS Charigalli, Saudi ARAMCO, Exxon-Mobil, etc. and further enhanced his vision, training & experience while working in deserts, mountains and off-shores of Qatar, KSA, Pakistan, Malaysia & France. Now, he is a knowledge manager serving academia and helping corporate world in fulfilling their business objectives.

Quest for knowledge once again magnetized him back to university and he did two post-graduations; first in Power Electronics Engineering and second in Project Risk Management. To further authenticate and rationalize his academic knowledge, he passed PMP and PMI-RMP certification exams. He also possesses other technical certifications including MCSE (NE), WCP, OFS, ST-I, Radioactivity, etc. He is also member of PMI, PEC, IE, & ASQ.

Salman’s teaching experience is with UCP, UOL, GCU, FCC & SZABIST. He has conducted trainings for Engro Foods, Engro Fertilizers, OMV, Schlumberger Oil Field Services, PMI Lahore Chapter and other training consultants. Salman’s book ‘Project Risk Management: Academics to Certifications’ is under review and publication process. Areas of interest includes Engineering Management, QHSE matrices, Risk, Project Management, Quality, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Plant Productivity Management, Regular Sampling & Geothermal Energy.

Salman, as Project Manager of NGO RWF (which has its international presence), has voluntarily managed construction of three hundred shelters for the flood victims of 2010 floods in Pakistan in the Southern Punjab and Northern Sind regions.
